Rangers FC are planning to bring in a couple of new players during the summer transfer window and reports suggest one of them could be Nick Powell.

Yes, that very same Nick Powell who was supposed to be the next big star for Manchester United a couple of seasons ago.

Nick Powell joined Man United from Crewe back in 2012 and the youngster was touted by many as the successor to the likes of Paul Scholes.

Unfortunately though his career at Old Trafford never quite took off and after moving around England in various loan spells, Nick Powell finally joined Wigan in 2016 on a free transfer.

This season, the midfielder has been in good form for Wigan in the Championship having scored six goals and provided seven assists so far.

And some reports claim Steven Gerrard in interested in making a move for him during the summer.

Rangers had shown interest in signing Nick Powell during the January transfer window but nothing materialised and now they have the chance of bringing him on board as a free agent.

If the Gers do manage to make this transfer go through then it will surely be a bold statement from their manager and will also solve a lot of the creative problems that the team have been facing in and around the midfield area.

But for Nick Powell to join the Teddy Bears the 25-year-old would have to take a massive pay cut and it is still uncertain whether the midfielder is ready to make that commitment or not.
