Arsenal have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti for a couple of months now.

The Gunners are planning to bring in a new centre-back during the summer transfer window and Unai Emery has his eyes set on Samuel Umtiti.

The Frenchman joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016 and he was supposed to be the next big thing after Carlos Puyol.

Unfortunately, though, the 25-year-old has failed to live up to the expectations and multiple reports have suggested that Barcelona are willing to cash in on him at the end of the season.

This season, Samuel Umtiti has played in only 10 La Liga games for the season and he too wanted to move to the Premier League in order to revive his career.

Or so everyone thought.

Now fresh reports are suggesting that Samuel Umtiti has no plans or moving out of Barcelona during the summer and he wishes to honour his contract which expires in 2023.

The reports claim that the defender is ready to battle it out with Clement Lenglet for a place in the starting line up instead of moving to England and take up a fresh challenge.

This will certainly be a huge blow for Arsenal who were planning to make a move for the defender at the end of the season.

Currently, Unai Emery has a number of centre-back at his disposal but Arsenal will surely have to level up if they get back into the Champions League next season.

But sadly though, it looks like Samuel Umtiti will not be wearing the red and white of Arsenal any time soon.
