Rangers FC manager have signed a host of new players during the summer transfer window and they intend to bring in even more players in January.
But Steven Gerrard will now have to think of offloading some of the dead wood from the squad if he wishes to lower the financial burden on his club.
And one player who has been sticking out like a sore thumb for Rangers FC is Mexican player Carlos Pena.
Carlos Pena joined Rangers FC in 2017 for a fee of £2.2 million but the central midfielder has surely been one of the biggest flops that the fans have seen for a long time.
His performances were so poor that the club decided to send him out on loan but that move too has failed drastically.
Carlos Pena will be returning back to Ibrox next month but the club do not wish to keep him in the ranks anymore.
Reports are suggesting that Rangers FC are planning to terminate his contract as soon as he returns back to Scotland and this will include paying off the remainder of his contract worth £20,000-a-week.
Carlos Pena had recently been in rehab for his alcohol addiction which makes it, even more, harder to incorporate him back into Steven Gerrard’s side.
Steven Gerrard currently has a number of players who can play in central midfielder so it makes absolutely no sense in bringing back Carlos Pena.
Hence Rangers FC have decided that it is better to suffer the loss instead of keeping one rotten apple in the basket and ruining the whole bunch.
