Rangers FC have been keeping tabs on Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson and as per the Scottish Sun, the youngster happens to be one of Gerrard’s top priority targets this summer.

The 20-year-old  joined Aberdeen from Hamilton in 2018 and this season he has played in 28 Premiership games for the club before the league got suspended. Right now he is one of the best young talents in Scottish football and Gerrard believes he can add that much-needed spike in central midfield next season.

The report claims: “STEVEN GERRARD is ready to raid two Premiership rivals as he tries to stop ten in a row.

“SunSport understands Livingston ace Lyndon Dykes and Aberdeen kid Lewis Ferguson are both high on Ibrox boss Gerrard’s wish-list this summer. Midfielder Ferguson is under contract until 2024 at Pittodrie and the Dons are keen to keep him.

“Midfield is an area Gerrard is keen to strengthen and Fergie fits the bill. There is major uncertainty surrounding the transfer market and additions clubs will be able to make. But Gerrard is determined to get a head start on his rivals.”

Many people would think Lewis Ferguson will obviously choose to secure an exit this summer since a club like Rangers FC do not come calling often but he’s made it clear that he wants assurances of regular playing time if any club wants to sign him up during the upcoming transfer window.

“I’m with the right people at the moment to go and kick on and progress my career,” Ferguson said, as per the BBC.

“The only thing that’s going to make you a better player is playing games. There’s no point going to a bigger club with a bigger contract and sitting on the bench or not making squads.”

Last month, many people had claimed that Ferguson will want to join Rangers FC at any cost but clearly his stance has changed over the past couple of months, and rightly so.

He has been a regular feature for Aberdeen and wants the same treatment next season as well. But we are not quite sure Steven Gerrard can guarantee that since he has a series of midfielders at his disposal right now.
