Rangers FC had recently dropped a bombshell claiming they have evidence of foul play in the recent SPFL resolution and that an independent investigation was needed into this matter.

The resolution sought to end the 2019-20 Scottish season with immediate effect meaning Celtic would automatically be declared the champions for the current year.

But as per Rangers FC, they have proof that the whole matter was not dealt with clean hands by the SPFL.

In that statement, Rangers FC had claimed: “WE have been presented with evidence via a whistleblower that raises serious concerns surrounding the SPFL’s processes relating to its stewardship of the voting on the resolution presented to member Clubs.

“Rangers will not be bullied into silence. We believe it is in the interests of all Scottish clubs and supporters that the evidence, which is alarming, be addressed as quickly as possible.

The voting debacle and the evidence we possess raise serious questions concerning the corporate governance of the SPFL.”

At first, there were a lot of people who came out to stand beside Rangers FC and bash the SPFL but with each passing day, one person after another seems to be doubting the Gers’ claim, the latest one being Kevin Phillips.

“It is a strange one,” the former Premier League Golden Boot winner told Football Insider.

“The head of the SPFL is asking for the evidence to be presented and it is your duty to present it. You would like to thing a corporation like Rangers would not make these accusations if they did not have any concrete evidence and if they have you need to present it to the powers that be.

“It is a bizarre situation. I see why they want to stop the league because if these clubs do not get money now they could go out of business.

“In England I want the season to reconvene for all of the leagues. Let’s not forget whatever league you are in, the higher you finish, even if it is one spot, can mean an extra 100 grand to your football club.”

No matter what the outcome, Celtic though are clearly stuck in between since they have one hand on the Premiership trophy but have to wait for so long in order to be named the champions.

And with the way things are rolling, we fear that this whole situation is not going to end anytime soon.
