Rangers FC appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager earlier on during the summer and ever since taking charge, the former Liverpool midfielder has made a flurry of signings.

Termed as the revolution, the new boss has brought in close to a dozen new signings at the club and has also offloaded a number of unwanted players from his ranks.

But it seems that the Gers’ transfer season might just end with a slump as they repeatedly stumble to make one final signing.

During the past couple of months in charge, Gerrard has brought in new players to strengthen almost every area of the pitch and the final piece of the puzzle is expected to be in the form of a new striker.

Gerrard has signed Umar Sadiq from AS Roma on a season-long loan but with players like Eduardo Herrera and Kenny Miller leaving the club, the Light Blues currently have Alfredo Morelos as their only other recognized striker.

And in such a scenario, the Gers are desperately looking to bring in a backup striker before the new season begins.

Sadiq was absent from the Gers clash against Osijek in Croatia after which Gerrard claimed that the striker is not yet match-fit and will take a couple of more weeks to become ready meaning that Alfredo Morelos is now the only striker available to the Light Blues.

And amongst this, STV are reporting that Rangers’ bid for Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty has been swiftly rejected.

The Gers had reportedly placed a bid of £200,000 for the 30-year-old but Hearts have rejected the bid claiming that the money is nowhere close to what they are expecting for the player.

Kyle Lafferty has already had a stint with Rangers from 2008 till 2012 during which he scored 38 goals for the Ibrox outfit. And after his 19 goal performance last season with Hearts, Steven Gerrard wants him back at Ibrox.

While Steven Gerrard is also looking at some other options for a backup striker but reports have suggested that the Gers are not disheartened with the rejection and are planning to make an improved bid for Kyle Lafferty during the coming few days.
