Rangers FC midfielder Jason Holt is currently out on loan to St Johnstone and the Premiership side are eager to hold onto him permanently.

The player joined the Gers in 2015 but under Steven Gerrard, the central midfielder has fallen down the pecking order and over the past two seasons, Holt has been moving around the United Kingdom on various loan spells.

Now as per Football Insider, St Johnstone is eager to make the loan deal permanent in the summer.

The report claims: “St Johnstone are keen to sign Jason Holt permanently as the clock ticks on his Rangers career, Football Insider understands.

“A Scottish source has told Football Insider that the Saints have been impressed by Holt and want to convert his loan into a permanent transfer.”

Will Jason Holt return back to Rangers?

Rangers FC have no use of Jason Holt since the Gers have an array of midfielders at their disposal right now but still, the Ibrox outfit might have to call him back.

While St Johnstone wants to hold onto Holt but they are currently without a manager which is why the club are not yet ready to chalk out their final transfer plan for the summer transfer window.

Recently, Tommy Wright quit as the St Johnstone manager and right now the Premiership club are looking for a new boss.

This is why Holt’s move out of Rangers is still in limbo and if the Saints’ new boss is not fond of the midfielder then he will have no other option but to return back to Ibrox at the end of the current season.

During the 2019-20 season, Jason Holt has played in 17 Premiership games for St Johnstone but he’s neither netted or assisted a goal.
