Rangers could try and make a move for Livingston’s 24-year-old centre-forward Lyndon Dykes, that’s according to Alan Hutton.

As per Hutton, Steven Gerrard might look to bring in Dykes during the summer as a replacement to loanee Florian Kamberi.

Hutton told Football Insider“They were interested in January and it didn’t quite work out – with the one year left now I can’t imagine the fee to be too big.

“I definitely think that will be an avenue that they’ll try to explore. Whether he’s going to come in and be a regular starter week in, week out, I’m not so sure, that’s up to him to prove himself and work hard.

“He’s definitely a player who’s caused Rangers and Celtic many problems this season, he’s really stepped up in the bigger games and showcased his talents. I’m not surprised Gerrard’s looking at him I think he’d be a really good addition, especially if Kamberi’s not going to stay.”

Do Rangers need Lyndon Dykes?

Lyndon Dykes has been with Livingston since last year and this season he has managed to impress for the Premiership side, scoring nine and providing eight assists in 25 league matches.

And with Alfredo Morelos likely to leave Ibrox in the summer, the 24-year-old might be the perfect replacement to the Colombian.

Morelos is wanted by a number of big Premier League sides and if Gerrard can fill this gap with Lyndon Dykes, then the Gers will save a lot of money in the transfer market.

The player is currently valued at €475,000 as per TransferMarkt which is well within the reach of Rangers but what remains to be seen is if Gerrard is willing to take a gamble with the 24-year-old as his premier striker.

Hutton believes the Gers boss wants Dykes as a replacement to Kamberi but we doubt if the Gold Coast born lad will want to join Rangers to be a benchwarmer next season.
