Mexican side Santos Laguna have agreed on a loan deal to sign Eduardo Herrera from Rangers FC and the player is expected to be unveiled on Friday.

The Gers made a series of bad buys during the previous season and perhaps the £1.5 million acquisition of Herrera was the biggest blot on the Old Firm club.

The 29-year-old arrived at Ibrox along with fellow Mexican Carlos Pena, but the fans quickly realized that both these players were of no use to their club.

Pena was offloaded earlier on in the summer and now his Mexican compatriot is also on his way back home.

Eduardo Herrera moves back to Mexico to join Liga MX side Santos Laguna – a club where he has spent one whole season on loan during his UNAM days.

On Wednesday Laguna released pictures of Eduardo Herrera training with the squad and now reports are claiming that the Mexican side and Rangers have completed all the formalities.

The forward is expected to be unveiled infront of the press on Friday.

Herrera played 21 games for the Gers during the 2017-18 season and returned only 2 goals during that time so evidently, most of the fans will be happy that Gerrard has pushed him out of the club.

Having said that though, the fans are still not happy with the fact that the Light Blues have chosen to send him out on loan rather than sell him off permanently.

The fans feel that selling Eduardo Herrera should have been a more sensible option given the fact that the club’s main priority now is to reduce their wage bills.

But some fans are of the view that the Gers did want to offload him permanently, it’s just that they failed to find a suitable buyer for the forward.

So, Gerrard must have felt that sending him out on loan is a much better option rather than let him rot on the bench and reduce his transfer value even further.
