Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC have signed as many as 11 new players under Steven Gerrard during the summer transfer window.

But with the arrival of some many new players, the manager has also sent out some dead wood – either on loan or permanently.

After a disastrous last season, fans urged the club to revamp the squad and sell off some of the useless players who were brought in for large sums yet failed to deliver anything substantial.

And the Gers have done just that with players like Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and Jason Holt. But apart from these unwanted players, Gerrard has also chosen to sell off a few players who performed well during the 2017-18 season.

Amongst these players, the names of Declan John and Josh Windass’ names rank the highest after they were sold off on Thursday to Swansea and Wigan Athletic respectively.

Windass has been sold to Championship Wigan Athletic for a transfer fee of around 2 million pounds while Declan John’s transfer fee is rumoured to be in the region of 1 million pounds.

And the fans are not particularly happy that their manager has chosen to sell of these two players knowing very well that they could have contributed during the new Scottish season.

But the fans are in for a treat after the Light Blues manager revealed that he intends to bring in new signings in order to replace the players that have left the club.

Speaking to the press, Steven Gerrard said: “Obviously a couple of bodies have gone out over the last couple of days,

“With time, we will try and replace those bodies.”

This statement from the manager will surely be music to the ears of the Gers fans but some have asked the all-important question as to whether the club intends to bring in any more players during the summer.

A couple of weeks ago, Gerrard had claimed that he needs atleast two to three players for every area of the pitch but a couple of days ago he also claimed that he is very happy with the squad he has been able to gather over the couple of months.

While we would like to believe that Rangers would like to bring in new players before the end of the month but with the English transfer window shutting down(English clubs can sell players but cannot sign new ones), Gerrard’s option has become very limited.
