Rangers FC have signed as many as eleven players during the summer transfer window and with that, the club have also sent out a whole bunch – either on loan or permanently.

And it seems that the process of clearing out the locker room is continuing even as the new Scottish season has gotten underway.

Gers right-back Lee Hodson has been told by Steven Gerrard that he has no place in the squad and he has wasted no time in moving out of the club.

But the Light Blues are not selling him off permanently as the 26-year-old will be joining St Mirren on a season-long loan deal.

Lee Hodson joined Rangers from MK Dons in the summer of 2016 on a three-year deal at the club and during his stay at Ibrox the full-back has made only 27 appearances for the club – in all competitions.

And currently with the likes of James Tavernier and Jon Flanagan at his disposal, Steven Gerrard has no practical use of Lee Hodson.

So ideally it would be beneficial for both the parties that the right-back moves out and gets some game time under his belt.

Rangers released a statement on their website which said:

“RANGERS defender Lee Hodson has today joined fellow Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on-loan until the end of the season.

“Hodson, a Northern Ireland international with 24 caps, joined Gers from MK Dons in the summer of 2016, and since then has made 27 appearances, scoring once against Aberdeen in December 2016.

“Prior to joining Gers, Hodson also had spells with Kilmarnock, Brentford and Watford.”
