Rangers FC have made their eighth signing of the summer transfer window in the form of Lassana Coulibaly – on a season-long loan deal.

The Gers have just confirmed the news on their official website alongside a statement.

The statement read: “RANGERS can today announce the signing of Lassana Coulibaly on a season-long loan from French side Angers, subject to international clearance.

“The 22-year-old makes an exciting eighth addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad as the manager strengthens his midfield options even further.

“The Mali international arrives in Glasgow as a talented prospect who has been a mainstay in Ligue 1 for the past three seasons despite his young age.

“Lassana signed for Angers last summer after two senior seasons with Bastia. After making his senior debut aged 19 in August 2015, he made 48 appearances for the side based in Corsica, scoring once. In his first season with Angers, he made 23 appearances in league and cup, scoring once.

“The midfielder received his first call-up to the Mali international set-up in 2016, when he was selected for the Under 20 side for the Toulon Tournament. By September of that same year, Lassana had been called up to the senior side, making his debut in a 5-2 win in an African Nations Cup qualifier. To date, the youngster has made nine appearances for his national side.”

It was just yesterday that we had reported that Rangers were close to signing Lassana Coulibaly after the 22-year-old was initially tipped to join Ligue 2 side, FC Metz.

But Lassana Coulibaly felt that moving to the Ligue 2 was a step down for him and joining Rangers FC would be the right move for his career.
