At the start of the previous week, there were reports that Rangers FC were eager to bring Manchester City youngster Phil Foden to Ibrox on a season-long loan deal.

But as the days rolled along we quickly found out that the talks were nothing but rumours. Now though Rangers are being linked to yet another City youngster and this time the whispers seem to be louder.

According to reports, Steven Gerrard is interested in bringing City’s 21-year-old winger Brandon Barker to Ibrox.

Barker is no stranger to the Scottish League having spent the whole of last season out on loan to Hibernian.

And the former England U20 International managed an impressive spell at Hibernian clocking up 2 goals and 4 assists in 30 appearances.

Rangers though are not the only club who are in the hunt for the winger as the report also suggests that Hibernian have been pretty impressed with the performances of the youngster and they want Brandon Barker back for another spell.

Championship side Hull City are also said to be another club who want the services of the 21-year-old.

Unlike Phil Foden, Man City though are not too keen to hold onto Brandon and are willing to offload him permanently – if an offer comes along.

But as things stand Steven Gerrard does not want a permanent deal and only want to sign the player on a loan spell – with an option to buy perhaps.

Brandon Barker will surely have something to think about as Rangers want the deal to be wrapped up within next week and with Steven Gerrard’s charisma on their side, the Gers are pretty confident that the winger will choose them over the like of Hibernian or Hull City.
