Rangers FC have been dealt with a huge blow after the club revealed that winger Jamie Murphy has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Rangers released a statement in which they have revealed that Murphy has suffered a serious knee ligament injury and will not be taking any further part during the 2018-19 campaign.

The manager has also claimed that this serious injury which the player sustained during the Scottish League Cup game vs Kilmarnock has become so serious because of the artificial turf at Ruby Park.

During a press conference, Steven Gerrard said: “Jamie has been excellent for me since day one,

“We are trying to help him in every way we can to give him all the support he needs as he is a huge player for us.

“The important thing now is the player and his care and we will ensure he sees the experts and support him along his recovery.”

Jamie Murphy joined the club on loan from Brighton at the start of the new year after which the player went on to sign a three-year contract with the Blues during the summer.

While the injury will most definitely be a severe blow to Steven Gerrard and his long-term plans but Jamie Murphy has put out a message which shows that he is positive during this phase and expects to come back even stronger.

The Rangers winger wrote: “Looks like I’m going to be out for a while, lucky I have these 3 to keep me busy.

“Thanks, everyone for your well wishes and continued support, I will be back!”
