Ross McCrorie still has two years left on his current deal at Rangers but the midfielder could try and secure an exit this summer, according to former Gers man Alan Hutton.

Hutton believes McCrorie is exhausted at the prospect of heading out on constant loan moves every season which is why he could try and settle down permanently next season.

Hutton told Football Insider“I get that from a football point of view, I totally understand. It’s not great going out on loan here, there and everywhere.

“You want to be settled, you want your family to be settle, he is pretty much at a crossroads. I do believe it is going to be difficult to break into the Rangers team next season, I do believe they will strengthen in a few areas.

“He’s going to have to come back and hit the ground running and show the manager he’s capable of playing week in, week out at a high level.

“I do think he’s done well after going away on loan but whether it’s going to be at Rangers or another team, we’ll have to wait and see. From a footballing point of view, I totally understand he wants to be settled.”

Ross McCrorie is a product of the Gers academy but all he has done over the years is roam around England on various loan deals. And right now, he’s out playing for Portsmouth in the League One.

But Pompey unlike other clubs have been really impressed with the 22-year-old and are reportedly keen to sign him permanently in the summer. And a couple of days ago even the player’s hinted at a possible exit.

The 22-year-old said about leaving Rangers: “It’s not something I have really thinking about at the minute. I’ve had a few chats with Kenny Jackett and Mark Catlin but that stuff remains private.

“My contract runs at Rangers for another two years but now I’m just concentrating on getting back, finishing the season and seeing where Pompey can finish.

“I want to be playing somewhere and not be out on loan. I want to be somewhere settled and playing week in, week out – that’s my aim.’”
