Midfielder Ross McCrorie has come up through the ranks at Rangers but this season he has not been on the favourable side of Steven Gerrard.

The defensive midfielder has played on 14 Premiership games this season and most of these have come off the bench.

It is pretty clear that Steven Gerrard does not have a huge level of faith on the player when it comes to protecting the back four but Ross McCrorie has insisted that he is happy with life at the club.

Despite rumours of him leaving the club in the summer, Ross McCrorie has claimed that he has improved a lot under the Rangers manager.

“Not getting a chance recently is part and parcel of football,” Ross McCrorie said.

“I trust the Rangers manager (Gerrard) and we’ll see what happens.

“I feel as if I’m developing really well though. I feel I’m a far better player than I was last season and at the start of the season, especially with the run of games I played.

“I feel like I’m 10 times the player I was.

“I’m also definitely a midfielder now! I feel I’ve improved massively.

“I feel more natural in midfield and I’m a more rounded player. I’ve improved near enough every aspect of my game.

“That’s partly because of playing and also because I’ve been putting the extra work in at training. I’ve been doing the wee extra bits with the coaches and in the gym.

“I’ve been brought up to always work hard. I’ll talk to the coaches but it’s mostly down to watching clips.

“If you want to improve as a player it’s up to yourself.”
