Ryan Christie has come up through the ranks at Celtic ever since he joined the club back in 2015 and this season the 24-year-old has caught the eyes with his impressive performances.

The attacking midfielder has already racked up eight goals and five assists for Celtic in just 13 games and he was also involved in Scotland’s EURO qualifiers during the current international break.

The results did not go in favour of Scotland as the Tartan Army lost both their games vs Russia and Belgium respectively but Christie feels he can learn a lot from the losses especially after watching Kevin De Bruyne from close quarters.

And according to football pundit, James McFadden, Ryan Christie has made a fine start to the season for the Hoops and the 24-year-old has been tipped to have a ‘big season’ in the Premiership.

“His work rate, his drive, his determination to be a success at Celtic, there was talk of him going out on loan in the transfer window last season and it never happened, then he burst onto the scene for Celtic,” he said, as quoted by Football Scotland.

“He can see a pass, he is always on for a ball, he demands the ball, he flies into tackles, he’s got so much to his game, he’s got everything in his game for me.

“The most impressive thing for me is his work rate because at one point he’s in the box, he’s trying to score a goal, they lose the ball, he’s the first one to trackback.

“He looks faster, he looks fitter, stronger, I think he’s going to have a really big season for Celtic, which can only benefit Scotland.”

VERDICT:

So far Ryan Christie has featured in all of the Premiership matches for the Hoops and his goals tally as of now is at par with his appearances.

But one major concern regarding the player is that last season he picked up three different injuries which forced him to miss more than two months of first-team football.

So if Ryan Christie can keep himself injury-free then he could very well be the next big asset for Neil Lennon during the current campaign.
