Rangers FC beat Ross County 4-0 in the Premiership this week and Ryan Jack was one of the best players on the pitch for the Gers.

The 27-year-old was a key figure Rangers last season and it looks like Steven Gerrard has midfielder as one of his key squad members.

Ryan Jack managed to two goals vs Ross County which were his first strikes in seven appearances this season in the Premiership. And speaking after the game, Gerrard was all praise for the former Aberdeen man.

“He is an example for the rest of the squad because he never drops his standards whether in training or a game,” said Gerrard[as quoted by the Sunday Post]

“He knits everything together, he drives the team on, he demands from everyone around him.

“It was a performance of a proper leader. His two finishes – he is adding that to his game as well so he has come on leaps and bounds.

“He needs to keep going but he is so vital to us and that is reason why I took him off, as I had that luxury.

“The key thing was we started the game a lot better.

“In the last two domestic games, we cruised into the games with an arrogance that is not us. We are not at the level where we can do that. We need to treat every single opposition with the same respect.

“I was delighted with our mentality. I thought we started the game really strong, competed well and did the basics well and that’s what we need every game.

“We can’t pick and choose.”

VERDICT:

Steven Gerrard obviously has shown a great deal of faith in Ryan Jack this season as the midfielder has already played 603 minutes across 7 matches in the Premiership.

Right now James Tavernier is captain of the team but during the summer there were a number of clubs who wanted to sign the full-back. And there is every possibility that the 28-year-old might leave at the end of the current campaign.

But with Ryan Jack already gaining praises from his manager, it is very easy to see who the next captain might be.
