Steven Gerrard recently claimed that he is ready to wait until the very end of the summer transfer window in order to bring back Ryan Kent on a loan deal from Liverpool.

Gerrard said: “Am I willing to wait until the last day of the window for Kent? I’m willing to wait until the last second.

“I’ll give it to the very last second to get Ryan back here. He’s an exception because he was outstanding last year. I feel he’s ready to go again, with the confidence he should have from last season.

“But we’re still talking about a player who belongs to Liverpool. They’ll make the decision on him and we’ll be totally respectful to the club and Jurgen Klopp.

“Everyone knows I want him back and I’ll give it until the last second. But if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.

“I haven’t spoken to him for a while, so we’ll wait patiently to see if he wants to come back and respect Liverpool’s decision.”

And it looks like he might very well have to wait until the deadline day in order to get his hands on the young winger.

Ryan Kent was a key player for Rangers last season but this summer he has been heavily involved in Liverpool’s pre-season games since Jurgen Klopp is missing some key forwards.

And now he could very well be in line to play for the Reds during their Community Shield game vs Man City since Sadio Mane will be unavailable.

Sadio Mane was playing for Senegal in the AFCON and right he is on a holiday with Klopp revealing that the winger will return after the Man City match.

“He is in good shape,” Klopp told the Liverpool’s official website.

“Obviously they had a celebration in Senegal and I’m happy about that because it showed that they respect the competition and saw the second place as a success, which is nice.

“He is now on holiday, not the longest one – he will be back on August 5, after the Manchester City game. That means he had two weeks. There is four or five days to prepare for Norwich, 10 days for Chelsea [in the UEFA Super Cup].”

So since Mane and Ryan Kent both play in the same position, some pundits claim that Jurgen Klopp could name the youngster in the squad vs City and might also use him at some point.

And if this happens then Liverpool will only let Ryan Kent leave for Scotland after the Community Shield match which is on the 4th of August.
