Manchester City ran riot against Arsenal in their first game on the new Premier League season winning the game 2-0.

After Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new boss during the summer a lot of fans were hoping that the Gunners will have some bite about them when they face the defending champions.

Unfortunately, though, Unai Emery might have a major selection crisis as Arsenal head to Stamford Bridge next weekend looked as toothless as they have been during the previous seasons under Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners failed to take control of the game and it was Pep Guardiola’s team who were dictating the terms during the 90 minutes.

While the Citizens saw goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva, Unai Emery’s men repeatedly tried playing out from the back – getting caught on a number of occasions.

And Sam Allardyce has slammed the Gunners manager claiming that it was his fault that Arsenal could not fight Man City because of this flawed tactic.

Speaking to Talksport, Allardyce said: “It’s the manager’s fault,

“Don’t ask someone to do against Manchester City what you shouldn’t do.

“What do Manchester City do? Press, press, press, so why do you try and play out [from the back]?

“Even the Arsenal crowd cheered when they dropped one in the opposition’s half!

“You cannot just force ‘the only way to play is this way’ in this country.

“We’re getting obsessed with this stupid ‘let’s play out from the back, split the centre-halves either side of the 18-yard box and go and play from there’.

“It’s utter rubbish to play like that all the time.”

Manchester City welcome Huddersfield Town at the Etihad next Sunday while Arsenal will travel across London in order to take on Chelsea.

And if the recent reports are anything to go by then Unai Emery might have a huge selection problem before the Stamford Bridge game.
