Man United beat City in the Premier League on Saturday and one player who isn’t being praised enough is Daniel James.

The Welshman put in a fine shift during the Manchester Derby and provided the assist to Martial for the second goal.

But this wasn’t the only bit of good work the winger did as he could have easily opened the scoring for United on the night and in the second half, he put in a fine shift in order to help out in defence.

And according to former Man United keeper Peter Schmeichel, Daniel James was one of the unsung heroes at the Etihad for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Schmeichel, said[as quoted by The Metro]: ‘Someone who is not going to grab the headlines is Daniel James.

‘Today he was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counter-attack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side.

‘Ryan must be so happy to see one of his players perform so well. He’s played every single game this season and he’s still playing well.

‘That’s a fantastic signing and he played fantastic today.’

Speaking after the match, even Ryan Giggs admitted that he had high hopes from the winger and had jokingly told him that he won’t be selected for Wales in case he failed to perform in the derby.

Giggs told Premier League Productions: ‘I told him that if he doesn’t win today I’m not picking him!’

The Man United front three took some time to settle down but during the past couple of matches, they have really gotten going with the likes of Martial and Marcus Rashford coming up with fine performances.

And even Harry Maguire has accepted that players like Daniel James and Jesse Lingard are looking more menacing as the season rolls along.

“In that opening 30 minutes the front four were absolutely frightening,” Maguire said via MEN.

“At the moment I feel like, over the last month or so, when I look at the forwards I know they’re going to score goals. At the start of the season, we didn’t really score more than one goal in a game but now it’s a few games on the spin where we’re back to scoring goals. They’re a big threat, top players and great talent.

“You need to look after your own results. The top four is in sight, but we’ll keep trying to improve.”
