Man United picked up a 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s Spurs in a game which saw the return of midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scottish international had missed the last few games with an injury and speaking ahead of this clash, Ole had made it clear that it would be touch and go.

Without him in the starting XI, Man United have looked shaky in the centre of the park but on Wednesday, the Red Devils churned out one of their best performances this season.

And it was mostly due to Scott McTominay providing that extra layer of defence against Jose Mourinho’s side.

“I was desperate to be on the pitch – it was disappointing to watch those three games,” Scott McTominay told the club’s official website.

“The atmosphere was brilliant tonight. Some of the skills and tricks in the first half, and in the second half, were absolutely scintillating and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.”

The midfielder not only did his work diligently but also helped Fred look a more composed figure all throughout the match – something the Brazilian has rarely achieved this campaign.

So naturally, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s made it clear that Scott is right now “undroppable” from the starting XI.

“You can almost say he is undroppable at the moment,” Solskjaer told reporters.

“The physical presence he gives us, the leadership he gives us in midfield, he also releases Fred.”

Jose Mourinho was the one who had brought Scott McTominay into the first-team squad when he was the manager at Man United and even he could not stop himself from acknowledging the hard work from the Scott.

“They had more emotion than us,” the Portuguese coach said. “You see for example, McTominay’s performance … he was dominant. He was dominant.”

The midfielder has truly come of age this season and his absence was clearly evident in the three matches he had missed due to an injury.

It finally it looks like Man United have found their deep-lying midfielder in the form of Scott McTominay and with Paul Pogba also close to a return, the Solskjaer project could well and truly kick off once again.
