Scott McTominay played his last game for Manchester United on Boxing Day against Newcastle United and in that match, the midfielder picked up a hamstring injury.

And since then, he’s been recovering on the sidelines and his absence has really caused headaches for the Manchester United manager.

But during the winter break, Scott McTominay has returned back to full training and was expected to play his first game after his injury against Club Brugge on Thursday.

Unfortunately, though, this game had come too early for the Scottish international but the manager has hinted that McTominay could return back to action this weekend when Manchester United take on Watford.

“I think he might be in the squad,” said Solskjaer at his pre-match press conference before their Europa League clash.

“Scott had a rest day today, so let’s see how he is tomorrow.

“I’m not surprised [he’s back so soon] because that’s the type he is. He’s a physical specimen, he’s a leader.

“He never shirks a tackle and he brings everyone with him. He can sit with Nemanja [Matic] and Fred or he could be one of the runners in midfield.

“Talking about that here today, we don’t really make enough runs past the striker. Scott used to be a striker so he’s used to being in the box.”

The return of Scott McTominay will surely be a big selection boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the midfielder was in peak form before he had gotten injured and also with his return, the manager can finally leave the slow and sluggish Nemanja Matic out of the starting line-up.

It’s still unsure if Scott McTominay would feature in the starting line-up or not but if he makes it to the matchday squad then surely the manager would want to send him onto the pitch at some point in the match.
