Chelsea are reportedly interested in making a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who also happens to be a target for Manchester United.

United fear they could lose Paul Pogba at the end of the current season and it seems like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing a move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and wants the Serbian to be the long-term replacement for Pogba.

Milinkovic-Savic joined the Serie A outfit in 2015 from Genk and his current deal with the club expires in 2024 meaning Lazio are in no hurry to sell him off which is why it has claimed that Man United will make contact only at the end of the season.

Now as per the latest rumours, Chelsea too are interested in the 24-year-old and are probably planning to leap-frog over Man United and secure a move for Milinkovic-Savic at the start of the new year.

The Blues currently have a transfer embargo upon them but there’s a buzz around Stamford Bridge that the ban could be lifted in their hearing which is scheduled for next month.

And if this is what eventually happens then it will be really bad news for Man United since Chelsea have money to spend given they failed to bring in any new players during the summer.

Ole, on the other hand, is desperate to bring in a new striker in January meaning the United boss will surely not be able to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic also given the player is expected to cost around 80 million euros.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a key player for Lazio and he will surely be the ideal replacement for Paul Pogba but if somehow Chelsea’s ban was to be lifted then the Blues will most certainly make a move for him in January.

And this is when Man United will automatically fall on the back foot since right now their priority is to bring in a centre-forward to the club.
