Rangers FC are closing in on their first major signing of the summer transfer window in the form of Sheyi Ojo.

Sheyi Ojo, 21 is a Liverpool youngster and is currently one of the top-rated wingers in the club.

Last season, the youngster was out on loan to Ligue 1 side Reims and to be brutally honest he had a really average season in France – failing to score a single goal or make an assist during the 15 appearances he made in the league.

But despite that, Sheyi Ojo is rated highly at Anfield and the coaches believe he has what it takes to become the long-term successor to Mo Salah.

This though is not set to happen anytime soon as the Reds already have the likes of Mo Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri amongst their ranks and hence Ojo will be heading to Ibrox this summer.

As per reports, Steven Gerrard has already had verbal agreements with the winger and the deal is expected to be wrapped up before the Gers start their pre-season training camp.

Football Insider reported:

“Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Ojo is set to link up with Steven Gerrard’s squad at their pre-season training camp in Portugal as preparations get underway for the new campaign.

“Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Ojo has agreed the terms of a new five-year contract with Liverpool even though he only signed his most recent extension in August of last year.”

Sheyi Ojo undoubtedly has bags of talents but up until now, the 21-year-old has failed to live up to all the hopes.

But Gerrard certainly hopes that working closely with him, the winger can finally unlock his full potential next season.
