Newcastle United spent lots of money under their new owners but now they will have to balance their books by selling some important players, like Alexander Isak.

Football Insider are claiming that the Magpies could be forced to listen to offers for Isak as they look to avoid getting punished by the authorities. Everton and Forest have been given points deductions for breaching FFP rules and Newcastle United fear they could also be walking in that direction, if they do not take immediate action.

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are two of the most valuable players for Newcastle and the experts believe, the club will have to offload at least one of them in the summer.

Arsenal have been long-time admirers of the forward and they had even tried to sign him before he joined NUFC from Real Sociedad in 2022 so if he is up for sale again then Mikel Arteta will definitely reignite his interest.

Alexander Isak or Viktor Gyokeres: Who should Arsenal go for?

Viktor Gyokeres reportedly has a €100 million release clause and Newcastle United will also demand a similar amount for Alexander Isak.

Isak is currently valued at €70 million but his contract expires in 2028 so Newcastle should demand a premium transfer fee for the Swedish international.

On transfer fees, both players might be evenly balanced but right now, on performances, Viktor Gyokeres has been far better this season.

In 20 Premier League appearances, Alexander Isak has scored 20 goals while Gyokeres has netted 22 goals along with 10 assists in 24 league games. Viktor’s goals might have come in Portugal but goals are goals. Isak has an xG of 10.93 while Viktor has an xG of 15.45. However, the Sporting forward has almost double the shots with 42 on target as compared to 24 of the Newcastle centre-forward.

Isak has scored 26 goals in 57 appearances for the Magpies since joining them while Viktor Gyokeres has been averaging almost 1 goal a match since signing for Sporting CP.

The only issue that people might have with Gyokeres is that he might take time to settle down in the EPL but the 25-year-old has spent time with Brighton and also Coventry City so English football isn’t totally alien to him.

Isak has been in England for two seasons and truth be told, he has been average in both campaigns. Last season he had managed only 10 goals in all competitions and things haven’t gotten much better this time around. Viktor Gyokeres looks a much better and sensible signing at the moment and if Arsenal are ready to spend €100 million on a new striker then they should go after the Sporting CP main-man.
