Manchester United lost their first game under the Solskjaer reign last week when PSG picked up a 2-0 win in the Champions League.

Even though this was the first loss for the caretaker boss but it revealed a lot of loopholes in the manager’s plans.

PSG had the better of Man United for most of the 90 minutes and this week against Chelsea everyone was waiting to see if Solskjaer had what it takes to rectify all those mistakes.

The Norwegian was without the services of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard will lead many to believe that the Red Devils might very well suffer their second defeat within a matter of weeks.

That though, was not the case as United came out 2-0 winners courtesy goals from Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.

Solskjaer once again showed that he might just be the right person to be handed the permanent job at the end of the season and speaking after the FA Cup tie, the manager has revealed how he chose to tweak his formation.

“We had criticism after the PSG game and everyone did what we asked tonight,” said the Norwegian.

“The performance was fantastic, our tactics worked.

“We asked our midfielders to press higher and get into the box and it worked. The defending in the second half was fantastic.

“Chelsea are a good team. They have their way of playing but Juan Mata did a fantastic job on Jorginho and we were absolutely perfect defensively.

“It is a massive result.”

Next up, Man United will take on Liverpool at home on Sunday and once again, Solskjaer will have to use a definitive ploy in order to stop their arch-rivals from walking away with three points.
