Liverpool beat Chelsea in Istanbul on Wednesday to win the UEFA Super Cup and next up they will take on Southampton in the Premier League.

The Reds were not particularly at their best during the European game but at the end of the day, it was Adrian who turned out to be the hero of the game.

And given that they now have two wins out of two games, it should be an easy three points vs the Saints on Saturday.

Liverpool news vs Southampton:

The first and the major injury blow for Liverpool will be that of Adrian who is set to miss this match after getting injured while celebrating the Super Cup win.

And the Liverpool manager has confirmed that the summer signing will miss the Saints clash.

Speaking on Friday, Klopp said: “It would help him a lot if it was 100 per cent clear he can play tomorrow.

“When we were all together (celebrating after the match), a supporter jumped over something, was chased by some security guys, slipped and kicked his (Adrian’s) ankle. It’s crazy.

“Yesterday, it was swollen. Today I spoke to him and he said ‘it’s much better than yesterday’, but we have to see.

“Apart from that, it was a brilliant night for him, not only because of the penalty but also because of the game.”

And with Alisson also out injured, 35-year-old Andy Lonergan will get his debut after he was signed just a couple of days ago on a short-term deal.

Fabinho played the full game vs Chelsea up until the final whistle which means he will most certainly be rested on Saturday.

Naby Keita missed the Istanbul clash due to a major injury and if reports are to be believed then he is yet to recover fully which means that Adam Lallana will get the chance to play in central midfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino did not start in midweek but will return to the starting Xi vs the Saints this weekend.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane both started vs Chelsea but Jurgen Klopp will not risk resting them especially since five of the top-six clubs have made a winning start to the 2019-20 Premier League season.

Liverpool predicted line-up vs Southampton:

Starting XI: Andy Lonergan; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Lallana, Wijnaldum; Mane, Firmino, Mo Salah.
