Man United have seemingly joined the race to sign Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson Odoi – if the recent reports are to be believed.

Hudson Odoi handed in a transfer request during the January transfer window amidst strong interests from Bayern Munich.

In fact, the Bavarians were so inclined towards signing him that they even made a bid for him which the Blues swiftly rejected.

And now it looks like Man United are also expected to make a move for him during the January transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri had previously claimed that Hudson Odoi is not ready to become a regular for Chelsea but England manager Gareth Southgate has made it clear that the young winger is more than capable of mixing with the big boys – atleast in the international level.

So clearly, the Three Lions boss has shown more faith on Hudson Odoi than his club manager and amidst the interest from Man United, Southgate has told the winger to remain calm.

‘If you look at number of appearances, he has actually been on the field quite a lot,’ said Southgate.

‘And I know from when we were talking with the club earlier in the season how much faith Maurizio has in him. He has got some outstanding players just in front of him but he’s slowly getting more and more game time.

‘So, I think he’s maturing well. There doesn’t need to be a rush for him. We’ve seen that with Marcus Rashford and his development.

‘He’s getting first-team football and that’s important. For us, I think his progress is good.’

Apart from Man United and Bayern, Liverpool have also shown an interest in signing Hudson Odoi which means most of the summer headlines should be dedicated to the 18-year-old.
