Spurs could be without as many as four first-team players against Southampton: A cause of concern for Conte?

Spurs take on Southampton in the Premier League this weekend and for gameweek one, Antonio Conte could miss some very important players.

Tottenham have been on a roll in the transfer market this summer, making half a dozen signings and their first test will be on Saturday when the Saints come to town.

Spurs are obviously the favourites to pick up all three points but Antonio Conte will have to get his selection absolutely right because he is likely to miss as many as four players.

The first and major miss will be Richarlison who is suspended for this match. The summer signing has been suspended due to a breach in FA Rules so he will have to watch from the stands on Saturday.

Another summer acquisition, Yves Bissouma could also miss out because right now, he is recovering from a slight hamstring tweak. Sources reveal he is going to go through a late fitness test and Conte will only take a final call on matchday.

Another midfielder Oliver Skipp will also be unavailable because he’s suffered a hairline fracture in his heel and is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks.

The absence of Bissouma and Skipp means Antonio Conte won’t have the chance to test his new players as he will have to keep his faith in the pairing of Hojbjerg and Bentancur.

Defender Japhet Tanganga is out with an illness but he hardly played for Spurs last season so Antonio Conte won’t be too worried about his absence.

Squad depth was one of the major reasons why Antonio Conte forced Daniel Levy to make so many signings so even though four first-team regulars are going to be absent on Saturday, the Spurs boss won’t be too worried about his team selection.

We are expecting Tottenham Hotspur to see this one through with the utmost ease.
