Rangers FC signed right-back Lee Hodson from MK Dons in 2016 on a three-year deal but the player’s stay at Ibrox has been anything but comfortable.

During his two full seasons at the club, Hodson has failed to carve out a place in the first eleven and has managed to make only 27 appearances during this time.

There were reports that Lee Hodson was tipped to move out of Rangers last summer but the Gers decided to hold onto him in order to give him one more shot.

But unfortunately, that too failed very badly as the right-back managed to make only six appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season.

And now that the Light Blues are under heavy remodelling phase under Steven Gerrard the new boss has told Lee Hodson that he is no longer wanted at Ibrox.

Gerrard has informed the management that they should be ready to listen to any offers that come for Lee Hodson and it seems the one club is already planning to make a move.

A report in the Scottish Sun claims: “It’s understood Steven Gerrard has told the full-back he is surplus to requirements, with Gers’ chiefs set to offer a pay deal to go,”

It is also being reported that fellow Premiership side St Mirren are interested in signing the 26-year-old.

As per the Scottish Sun, St Mirren manager Stubbs wants to sign the out-of-favour right-back from Rangers and is expected to make a move in the coming few days.

Lee Hodson’s current contract with the Gers expires in 2019 but now that Steven Gerrard has told the player that he is surplus at the club he should really grasp on the St Mirren opportunity and try to reestablish his career.
