Rangers FC have made four signings this month out of which one of them is former player Steven Davis.

Davis spent four years with the Gers before joining Southampton in 2012. And now the player has returned back to Ibrox for a second stint.

Steven Davis had made only six appearances for the Saints this season out of which he played a total of just 96 minutes.

The news Saints boss had no inhibitions in letting Steven Davis leave the club during the middle of the season but everyone thought that Southampton would sell him off permanently.

A permanent sale would have made even more sense since the midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season.

But Steven Davis has arrived at Ibrox on a six-month loan spell.

This deal has created a doubt in many a peoples head that the midfielder his not interested in staying at Rangers next season and hence wants to keep his options open for the summer.

Now though, Steven Davis has claimed that he will be more than happy to stay at Rangers beyond the summer and even retire at the club.

“But hopefully beyond the six months, everything will go well and then we can look at things and make it a longer-term thing,” Steven Davis said.

“I had a tremendous time in here in the last period,

“Nobody had to sell the club to me. I know what the club is all about.

“Obviously the opportunity to work with the manager as well was a big draw, but it was an easy decision for me once I found out there was a bit of interest from the club.

“This is the move I wanted to happen and I just want to get back to playing football and enjoying football.”

While the Gers fans would have wanted a permanent deal for Steven Davis but a loan spell also helps the club in many ways.

If the 34-year-old fails to make an impression during the second half of the season then Steven Gerrard will have no obligation to buy him.
