England look a transformed side under their new manager Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions reached the semi-final of the World Cup in Russia despite many believing that they would not be able to cross the group stages.

And just when it seemed as if England were in the course of settling down with Southgate, it seems that the FA are already in search of their new boss.

Gareth Southgate’s current deal with the England side expires in 2020 but the 48-year-old is yet to agree on a new deal with the FA.

And rumours across England are claiming that the boss might quit his job after the 2020 Euros which have forced the FA to shortlist a number of candidates.

The odds state that former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard is leading the race to become the next England manager.

Gerrard had been working with the Liverpool youth team last season but this season the former English International has been appointed as the new boss at Rangers.

According to bookmakers, Betfair Steven Gerrard stands at a 5/1 odd to replace Gareth Southgate as the new boss of England.

Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said(as reported by the Scottish Sun): “While England may have lost to Spain over the weekend, the nation’s love for Gareth Southgate from the World Cup is as strong as ever.

“The question now, however, is how long will he want to stick around following reports that contract negotiations have hit a stumbling block.

“He’s contracted through to 2020, but if he was to leave after the Euros that year there are a few names doing the rounds already on who would take over.

“Steven Gerrard, who has made a promising start to his coaching career at Rangers is the joint 5/1 favourite with Sean Dyche who took Burnley to a top 10 finish in the premier league last year, with less than a star-studded line-up.

“Eddie Howe, who alongside Dyche, is one of the best of the home-grown managers in English football is at 7/1, while Roberto Mancini is the shortest of the non-English names on the list, with the former Manchester City and current Italy manager also at 7/1.”

Apart from Steven Gerrard, the likes of Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe are also being looked at as the new boss of England but most people believe that that the Liverpool legend is the favourite.

This is primarily because the FA are quite pleased with the work that Gerrard has done at Rangers during the summer and moreover he is quite familiar with life inside the Three Lions dressing room.
