Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea
Jose Mourinho
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho might not be the most loved person in the footballing world. But the players who have played for him or against his team always hold the Portuguese in high regards. The Special One as he is affectionately called by everyone is someone who had only tasted success during his managerial career – up until now that is. His first big failure came with Chelsea a couple of seasons ago when he was released by the club midway through the season. Then he went on to join Manchester United who are yet to find their peak form under Jose Mourinho. Despite the constant failures during the past couple of seasons, there a number of people who still feel that Jose Mourinho is one of the best there is. And one such person is current Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard. The former Liverpool midfielder was wanted by Jose Mourinho when the latter was managing Chelsea and now Steven Gerrard has opened up on his thoughts about Jose Mourinho. He said: “I think of one word: winner. “He’s a winner. When winners feel that stuff around them is affecting their chances of winning then maybe the behaviour changes. “But he’s still a world-class manager and he’s already won things at United. It wouldn’t surprise me if he won more trophies at United. “I think it’s him doing things on purpose, to galvanise and get that siege mentality. It would be foolish to write him off.” Jose Mourinho was on the verge of being sacked a couple of weeks ago but since then his club have turned around their performances and have managed to pick up a series of big results – including that all-important win against Juventus in the Champions League.
