Rangers FC have finally picked up their second win of the new Premiership season beating Dundee 4-0 at home this weekend.

The Light Blues fans were hoping for a response from their team after the loss to Celtic and they have certainly got one courtesy of four different scorers.

Lassana Coulibaly scored the first goal of the game within four minutes and then it was Ryan Kent who doubled the lead ten minutes later. James Tavernier added the third from the penalty spot during the first half of injury time and finally, it was Glenn Middleton who scored the fourth goal of the game seven minutes before full time.

After the match the Gers supporters were ecstatic and everyone thought that Steven Gerrard would be one happy man during the post-match press conference.

But instead, Gerrard chose to be critical of his team saying: “We got an important win, four goals and a clean sheet but it wasn’t a great performance,

“It was good enough but we will play better than that.

“We have to play with more control. I want as many goals as we can get. I want to create a team that is ruthless and relentless and we weren’t today.

“We deserve more goals. I don’t just want to get a 3-0 lead and take the foot off the gas. If we want to be a successful team, we have to be at it all the time.

“I apologise if I’m not giving my players enough credit. I just us want to be consistent and strong. I just thought first half I was watching a game of basketball – that’s not how I want it.”

And this statement from the manager has truly impressed the fans who are claiming that Steven Gerrard wants nothing but perfection from his team – something that has been missing from the team of yesteryears.

Rangers will now travel to Spain and take on Villareal this week to play their first game in the group stages of the Europa League.
