Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC lost their first game under the managerial regime of Steven Gerrard and sadly that defeat came during the Old Firm Derby this past weekend.

The Hoops came out of the game 1-0 winners thanks to a solitary goal from Olivier Ntcham thus proving once again that Brendan Rodger’s side will be a force to reckon with despite having a bad transfer window.

Before the match, a lot of people were hopeful that the Gers would be able to get the better of their Glasgow rivals on Sunday but some pundits had warned the Light Blues fans about the threat that their rivals possessed.

They felt that Celtic would be the first big opponents that Steven Gerrard would face since taking charge of the club earlier on during the summer.

And true to these words, the Light Blues looked lack-lustre at Parkhead.

But Steven Gerrard has shown a great deal of positivity after the defeat promising their fans that the Gers will return back stronger at the Old Firm defeat.

Steven Gerrard told the club’s official website“Okay, today, the result didn’t go our way, but it is our first defeat together so it is a setback. But we have to learn and grow and bottle this pain and frustration and try and use it in our favour after the [international] break,

“So it has come at a good time, but the disappointing thing is we have to swallow this defeat which hurts. We will improve and next time this fixture comes around we will be better.”

This first defeat for Rangers during the season has come at a perfect time – just before the international break, since it will give the manager ample time to rectify his mistakes and come back stronger once Rangers take on Dundee at home in the Scottish Premiership on the 15th of September.
