Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers have found their long lost glory.

Yes, we know this might be too early to make such a claim but the way the Light Blues blew away St Johnstone this weekend in the Premiership, not a lot of people will try and bet against this statement.

After making a number of signings during the summer, Rangers made a pretty slow start to the new season, urging many to believe that Celtic were still the lions of the land.

But slowly Steven Gerrard’s tactics are taking shape and his players are responding to the manager’s call.

Rangers thumped five goals past St Johnstone and each one of their goals was scored by a different player.

While strikers Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty bagged one goal apiece, the trio of James Tavernier, Scott Arfield and Daniel Candeias all put their name on the scoring sheet.

While the manager was evidently happy with his team’s performance but Steven Gerrard’s comments after the St Johnstone win will surely make him a darling amongst the Ibrox faithful.

Gerrard said:

“Players are going to make mistakes when they do it’s my fault because I’m asking them to play the way I want them to play, they’re our tactics as a staff.”

This might be his first managerial stint but Steven Gerrard’s comments after the St Johnstone win clearly shows that he ready to shield his players from any potential criticism just like a top manager would do.

Right now he is standing infront of the firing squad just so that his players can take the field with all the focus and determination.
