Chelsea take on Liverpool in the FA Cup 5th Round next weekend and Tammy Abraham could be a miss for this clash -as per the latest reports.
The forward has been spending time on the sidelines with an injury and for the past two games, it has been Olivier Giroud who’s been starting upfront for Chelsea and Abraham has been coming off the bench.
And the same was the case this Tuesday too as Tammy Abraham came on against Bayern Munich in the 61st minute of their Champions League clash.
But as per the latest reports, the forward might have picked up a knock during a warm-down immediately after the game at Stamford Bridge.
A report from the Standard claimed: “Tammy Abraham will be assessed on Wednesday after appearing to limp out of a warm-down at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
“The 22-year-old was a 61st-minute substitute having only recently returned to full training following an ankle problem but he was seen limping from the pitch before the end of the session.
“Blues head coach Frank Lampard was unaware of the problem when conducting his post-match media duties but Abraham is expected to learn the full extent of the problem following further tests on Wednesday.”
If the injury sustained by Tammy Abraham is indeed serious then surely it will be a massive blow for Frank Lampard since Chelsea have to games in quick succession this week.
First, they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday which will be absolutely crucial for the Blues if they wish to hold onto their top-four spot.
And then, Chelsea shift their focus to the FA Cup where they take on Liverpool in the 5th Round of the FA Cup and if Tammy Abraham is absent for this game then it will be a major miss for Frank Lampard since the likes of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi are not apt enough to cause any significant problems to Liverpool’s defenders.
