Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi picked up an injury during Chelsea’s Monday night clash vs Burnley and the winger will play no further part this season.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been the talking point for the Blues during the past couple of months as Bayern Munich have been trying desperately to sign the youngster.
The England international even put in a transfer request during the January transfer window but it was turned down by Chelsea prompting him to stay until the end of the season.
Callum Hudson-Odoi wanted to play regular football but Maurizio Sarri had been adamant that the youngster was still not ready for the big stage which led many to believe that he would once again try to force his way out at the end of the season.
Now though, all that seems to have changed.
The 18-year-old is expected to miss the start of the 2019-20 season after he ruptured his achilles on Monday which means there is a huge possibility that Bayern Munich will withdraw their interest.
And even Chelsea are aware of this hence reports are suggesting that the club are planning to offer the teenager a new contract at the club.
The Blues are willing to make this commitment in order to prove to Callum Hudson-Odoi that they are ready to back him and that he indeed has a future at the club.
The report also suggests that the Blues are ready to pay Hudson-Odoi around £100,000-a-week which the management feel should be more than enough to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
There’s still a long time for the summer window to open and Bayern Munich’s backing off cannot be confirmed just yet.
And one of the reasons why many experts are not willing to believe this rumour is because Bayern know for a fact that Callum Hudson-Odoi will be a long-term investment and a couple of months of injury recovery shouldn’t cause any significant damage.
Chelsea are on the verge of losing Eden Hazard who has been courted by Real Madrid for a couple of seasons now but if they can manage to hold onto Callum Hudson-Odoi then surely it will be a big victory for Sarri and his technical team.
