Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara during the course of this summer and it looks like the Reds will finally be able to sign him.

Thiago Alcantara joined Bayern from FC Barcelona in 2013 but it looks like the 29-year-old has his heart set on playing in the Premier League during the 2020-21 season.

And amidst all these transfer rumours, Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has hinted that the midfielder could be on his way out of the club before the new Bundesliga season kicks off.

“I can understand when a player thinks about a move,” Flick told Sport1, as reported.

“Thiago played in Spain for Barcelona and in the Bundesliga for Bayern. If maybe he wants to play in the Premier League now, I totally understand.

“That’s why I would like to have him as a coach on the team for the next few years, but that’s life. It would go on.”

Thiago Alcantara is valued at around £43 million, according to TransfrMarkt but the German side might have to sell him off for much less since he has only one year left on his current deal and by the looks of it, he will not be signing a new deal anytime soon.

Various reports suggest that Liverpool are willing to spend in the region of £30-35 million for Thiago which is a great bit of business.

But what remains to be seen is if the Liverpool hierarchy is willing to spend so much money on one player after such a prolonged lockdown.

During the 2019-20 season, Thiago Alcantara featured in 24 Bundesliga games for Flick’s side, scoring just three goals and assisting none.
