Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to strengthen a number of areas during the summer transfer window and right now the back line looks to be his biggest priority.
During the 2018-19 season, Man United largely depended upon Ashley Young to play on the right-back role and it was pretty evident that the veteran has slowly been losing his touch.
In the final couple of matches, Young had been particularly poor which now seems to have prompted Solskjaer to venture into the market for a new right-back.
And during the past couple of weeks, PSG’s Thomas Meunier is being linked with the club.
Thomas Meunier joined the Parisian outfit back in 2016 but this season, the 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order making just 22 appearances in the Ligue 1 for PSG.
With one year left on his current deal, PSG are reportedly willing to sell him off for a transfer fee of around £22 million which now seems to have drawn the attention of Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
The Gunners boss much like Ole is also planning a massive overhaul during the summer and getting a player like Thomas Meunier at such a cheap price really seems to have spiked the interest of the Spanish manager.
But now reports from Belgium – the native land of Thomas Meunier are claiming that the right-back is ready to snub Arsenal for a move to Manchester United.
It is being claimed that Thomas Meunier had been a fan of Man United when he was a kid which is why he is keen on playing for the Red Devils.
This surely will be a setback for Arsenal who right now have a very small transfer budget to spend which is why, even if Unai Emery wants, he cannot offer PSG more money for the 27-year-old.
But joining Man United though might not be a bed of roses for Thomas Meunier since the Red Devils already have Diogo Dalot amongst their ranks – and the youngster has shown some great promise during the final few months of the previous season.
