Paul Pogba’s career at Juventus is more or less over and as per reports, Juventus want to sign Arsenal’s Thomas Partey as his replacement.
Pogba’s return to Juventus has not been smooth due to his constant injury woes and now the midfielder faces a lengthy ban after failing multiple doping tests. He is now being given basic wages at the club as Juventus explore the appropriate future options.
The Frenchman is on the cusp of facing a four-year ban which is why the Old Lady is said to be eyeing Thomas Partey in a possible January move.
Thomas Partey has been on Arsenal’s books since 2020 but since moving to the Premier League, the midfielder has been massively injury-prone. To date, he’s suffered eight different injury setbacks and even right now, he’s out with a groin injury.
The Ghanaian international was supposed to make a comeback in the next few days but Mikel Arteta has now confirmed that he’s sustained a fresh setback which is going to keep him on the sidelines for several more weeks.
This injury seems to be the final nail in the coffin for the midfielder because Arteta will surely look to sell him off in January and Juventus can offer him the ideal exit root.
Thomas Partey has played only 15 minutes of football in Arsenal’s last 11 matches and now that they have signed Declan Rice, the Gunners won’t mind selling Partey at the start of the new year. Arsenal are also planning to make a move for Douglas Luiz and if Villa agree to sell him then Juventus won’t have any problems in landing Partey either.
Partey’s career at the Emirates Stadium is very evidently coming to an end and even if he returns early from his current injury, we don’t think he is going to get back into the team any time soon.
As far as Juventus are concerned, they are desperate to bring in a new central midfielder because Pogba’s playing career has hit a brick wall and if Arsenal do not demand a very steep transfer fee, the Serie A side won’t have a problem in signing Thomas Partey. There’s a big chance Juve will look to sign him on a loan deal in January with the hopes of making it permanent at the end of the season.
