Timo Werner Liverpool
Timo Werner (RB Leipzig, 11) kann sein Versagen nicht fassen, nachdem er völlig frei stehend über das Tor schoss; Enttäuschung, enttäuscht, Frustration, disappointed

Liverpool are right now the favourites to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and recently football journalist Raphael Honigstein claimed that the German international’s move to the Premier League is inevitable.

The journalist told BT Sport, as reported: “So far Liverpool have been linked closely and there has been a meeting between him and Jurgen Klopp, at least a virtual one over the last few weeks.

“I think they’re a bit hesitant to pull the trigger because they haven’t quite figured out how much of a financial problem the coronavirus will present itself to football, coming over the next month in the Premier League.

“I think he’s waiting for things to fall into shape and it could be that the transfer window is much later than usual.

“This kind of deal would have been announced in April/May, this time it could be August or September, but I still think there’s a very strong chance he’ll end up at Liverpool.”

But despite the huge buzz about his potential move to England, Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has said that Timo Werner is unphased with all the transfer links.

“He is in a good mood, feels good and trains well,” Nagelsmann told SportBild, as reported by Goal.

“I do not have the impression that he is carrying a large cross with him. But he is a young guy who is sure to sit at home with his wife and ponder whether he will stay or change.

“When the question (of a transfer) is in the room, you are always a little bit somewhere else. It was no different for me than when in Hoffenheim, it was about whether I go away. It is more obvious with strikers, because then there are phases in which they do not score.”

This season, Timo Werner has netted 24 goals in just 27 Bundesliga matches and as per the reports, the forward is keen to work with Jurgen Klopp which automatically puts Liverpool in the driving seat, ahead of other suitors like Chelsea.
