Manchester United have been linked with Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld for some time now and many reports claim the Red Devils might go back for him at the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho really pushed to sign the Belgium defender last summer but somehow the move did not go through but it looks like Solskjaer is set to reunite this interest.

This season, Toby Alderweireld has played in 27 games in the Premier League and just like last campaign the centre-back has been in top form.

But according to former Man United defender Nemanja Vidic, the Red Devils do not need to make Toby Alderweireld their priority during the summer.

Here’s why.

Speaking on Stadium Astro, the 37-year-old said(via Daily Star): “Of course, I would like to see him there.

“But I think the club has to have a priority,

“What I see is, if you want to be in the Champions League next season and challenge for the Premier League, you have to strengthen the midfield.

“You need that depth in the midfield area.

“In defence, they already have five players, so they can rotate, and it seems like they’re doing well.”

But fellow pundit Gary Stevens claims United should sign Toby Alderweireld if he is available for cheap.

“For £25m, Alderweireld is an absolute bargain,” the 56-year-old replied.

“I’m not sure Spurs can keep him.

“He’s the right type of character, very calm, very sensible and a top central defender.

“So I think he would be a perfect buy for United.”
