UCL Champions League final UEFA Champions League
UEFA Champions League

A couple of days ago, UEFA announced that their plan to launch a third European league by 2021 and now it seems that they might also be planning to host the Champions League final outside Europe.

Yes, you heard that right.

A couple of days ago we had reported how the governing body of footballing was planning to introduce a new league in order to accommodate the smaller teams from Europe.

And now it seems as if they are also planning to take the Champions League out of Europe.

The La Liga is already hosting the Girona vs Barcelona game in Miami, USA at the start of the new year and it seems that the UEFA might also head in that direction.

Spanish media giant Jaume Roures recently said in a talk show that the UEFA are planning to move the Champions League out of Europe and possibly to New York.

Speaking to Catalunya Radio’s ‘El Mati’ show, Jaume Roures said: “Talks are ongoing investigating the feasibility of hosting a future Champions League final in New York City.”

And immediately after this statement a couple of reports started claiming that UEFA were planning to move the Champions League out of Europe in 2021 – the same year when they will launch the third European League.

But now  UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has come out to rubbish all these claims.

Ceferin said in a statement: “This idea is currently not being discussed at all.”

So as things stand the UEFA have no plans of moving the Champions League final outside Europe – or do they?
