Arsenal are currently on a role under their new manager Unai Emery and they have a great chance of getting back into the Champions League next season.

Unai Emery seems to have brought back the confidence that the Gunners were lacking during the final couple of seasons under Arsene Wenger.

Four months into his first season and many people are already drawing parallels between Unai Emery and Arsene Wenger.

While most people believe that it is just too early to compare Emery with the legendary manager but former Gunner, Ray Parlour who was part of the Invincibles squad has claimed there is atleast one area where Unai Emery is better than Arsene Wenger.

“Well certainly there’s progress,” he told Sky Sports’ The Debate(as reported by the Daily Star).

“I’m going over to the Emirates at the moment most games and you can see that everybody’s behind the team now.

“Last season, empty stadium, lots of empty seats. So that’s one thing that the crowd are right behind him, the atmosphere’s totally different at the ground now.

“But there’s still a long way to go. I think you’ve gotta give him a couple of transfer windows, you really have.

“You can’t just suddenly change it overnight and, for me, fourth place, if they can nick fourth place, that’ll be a great season for them.

“The good thing about him though, he looks at the opposition a lot more than what Arsene Wenger did,” he said.

“He would analyse who he’s playing against, whereas Arsene Wenger it was ‘right, we’re playing this, don’t worry about them.’ And sometimes they’d come unstuck, especially towards the end of his reign as manager where he should have probably looked at certain games, certain individuals, how to beat them.

“Now the weekend, [Emery] changes it. ‘Right, okay, we’re gonna go three at the back.’ And he hasn’t played that for a while. He’s been playing a flat back four, two in midfield, three behind the striker and it’s been doing really well.

“[Alexandre] Lacazette was out so he had to change personnel, [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang played up top, went with the three [at the back]. [Hector] Bellerin pushing on, [Sead] Kolasinac, who’s much better.

“I think that’s the reason he went with it because Kolasinac is not the best defender. At left-back, when he’s playing in a four, you can get exposed.

“Now, it’s a little bit to do with Aubameyang as well, because when he plays on that left-hand side he’s not gonna run back, he’s not gonna trackback, that’s not his position. But that’s where he went ‘okay, with [Ryan] Fraser and [Callum] Wilson and [Josh] King, I might have to get another body at the back and them two boys can bomb forward.’

“I like what he’s done so far.”
