Liverpool beat Cardiff City 2-0 and with that, they have moved to the top of the Premier League table.

Man City will now play their extra game in hand against Man United on Wednesday and if the Citizens fail to win this match then surely the league title will be Liverpool’s to lose.

And speaking after the match, Virgil Van Dijk has claimed that the Reds have managed to keep a cooler head this season which is why they are still very much in the title race.

“You try to keep a cool head and I think that’s something we have improved on during the season,” Van Dijk told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Just keep doing what we are doing, don’t panic and we will get opportunities because we have plenty of quality in the team and no team can defend at their highest level for 90 minutes.

“So there will always be slight moments of spaces that we can exploit and I think we did it.

“The only thing we can do is keep playing and keep winning. “Keep enjoying it and hopefully the weather stays nice and let’s go for it.

“We need everyone, we need all of the fans, and like today as well we had great support, so we will see how it ends.”

Last season, the Anfield outfit were too fragile in defence and most often than not, the Reds dropped points at crucial times.

This time though Jurgen Klopp has ensured that none of that drama unfolds and it looks like apart from playing attacking football, the manager has also tuned his side to pick up scrappy wins against weaker opponents.
