Liverpool paid huge sums of money to bring in Virgil Van Dijk during the start of the new year.
And once the transfer went through, many people had come out to criticize the Reds for splurging so much money on the Dutchman.
But this season Virgil Van Dijk has proved that he is worth every penny as the centre-back is easily one of the best defenders in Europe right now.
Van Dijk along with Jose Gomez have managed to strengthen Liverpool’s defence – so much so that their attackers can now play more free-flowing football.
Liverpool have conceded only five goals in the Premier League so far which is at par with Manchester City who sit at the top of the table.
But despite being unbeaten in the league, Virgil Van Dijk still feels that his team is not the best in England.
“They are the champions and the best team in the league,” Virgil Van Dijk said.
“But we will try everything to be as good as we can.
“We don’t have to look at others, we want to look at the games we have and the next challenge we have at Liverpool is Watford away, which is going to be tough.

“The season is very long. They [City] are not going to win every game 5-0 and are going to have tough games like everyone else.
“We need to look at what we have ahead of us and that is more important than looking at someone else. It is the only way forward.”
