Brendan Rodgers Leicester City vs Man United

Chelsea take on Brendan Rodgers led Leicester City on Sunday and Frank Lampard will be desperate to win this match.

The Blues played some eye-catching football during their first two games of the new season but they ended up losing both those matches.

The first one was a 4-0 thumping at Old Trafford by Man United while the second defeat came in the UEFA Super Cup vs Liverpool. But Chelsea are expected to win their third match vs the Foxes despite Frank Lampard being under a ton of pressure.

And according to Paul Merson, if Lampard fails to win their first home game of the season then fans will start asking questions.

Merson told the Daily Star(as reported): “There’s a lot of pressure on Frank Lampard to get that winning mentality.

“They’ve lost twice now and conceded six goals which isn’t great.

“They need to start well at home, or people will start questioning why they didn’t offer Brendan Rodgers the job. I’ve said before I think he would have been perfect.

“I just think none of the top name managers wanted the Chelsea job.

“They’ve sold their best player by a million miles and can’t replace him because of the ban.

“Plus there’s a lot of pressure and no job security. I don’t think people were queuing up to take it.

“Chelsea should win this game, but it’s a hard one for them.”

Brendan Rodgers was appointed was the Leicester City boss towards the end of last season and yes there were a few rumours which had linked him to the Chelsea job during the summer.

But honestly, there was no way that the former Celtic boss would want to join Chelsea given that he had taken charge of the Foxes just a couple of months ago.

Also, the Chelsea fans look pretty happy with the appointment of Frank Lampard and are willing to give their former midfield time to build his own squad.
