Rangers are set to take on Osijek in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers later this week and before the game, Steven Gerrard might have one or two tough decisions to make.

According to the latest reports, Gers midfielder Josh Windass is the subject of transfer interest from a number of English clubs.

Windass joined the Light Blues in 2016 from Accrington and was a key figure in midfield during the 2017-18 season. But as the season moved along his impact became less and less prominent.

Windass is known to be an inconsistent performer who goes missing before the crucial games but had featured for Gerrard’s side in both of the Europa League qualifying games this season. But reports claim that the midfielder could be dropped when the Gers take on Osijek.

Now it seems that clubs like West Brom, Aston Villa and bizarrely West Ham United are interested in the services of Josh Windass.

We are not yet sure about the details of the interest but as things stand West Brom lead the race to sign the midfielder.

Aston Villa are likely to have a new manager in the form of Thierry Henry and if the former Arsenal man comes in, the club’s transfer target could change meaning that Windass to Villa is still a very thin possibility.

West Ham United’s interest in Josh Windass is a bit of a surprise but maybe Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign the 24-year-old as a back-up for his first choice midfielders.

There’s no news as to what Rangers are thinking about these interests and whether they want to part ways with Josh Windass or not. But the prospect of playing in England and that too in the Premier League has changed the hearts and minds of many a player in the past.
